RECENTLY ATTENDED THE TOWNSHIP COMMITTEE MEETING, SO SOME OF YOU WHO WERE THERE HAVE ALREADY HEARD. THE CONCERN THAT I BRING TO YOU IS PRIVATE SEPTIC AND THE FEES REGARDING THE SEPTIC. NOT SURE HOW MANY OF YOU HAVE A PRIVATE SEPTIC ON YOUR PROPERTY, AND IF YOU PAY INTO AN EVERY THREE YEAR FEE, THE THREE YEAR FEE, I'VE BEEN TOLD, IS FOR ADMINISTRATIVE COSTS. I PERSONALLY DO NOT AGREE WITH THIS FEE. I HAVE BEEN I'VE LIVED IN MONTGOMERY MY ENTIRE LIFE. I'VE BEEN PAYING THIS FEE WHEN MY SEPTIC GOT A REPAIR. IT WAS ORIGINALLY A STATE RUN PROGRAM. THE STATE DID AWAY WITH THE PROGRAM MANY YEARS AGO, AND THEY TURNED IT INTO A MUNICIPALITY. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO. SO SOME MUNICIPALITIES IN THE STATE OF NEW JERSEY ADOPTED IT AND RAN WITH IT. SOME DID NOT. WE DID. I DON'T AGREE WITH THIS FEE SIMPLY BECAUSE THERE ARE PEOPLE IN THIS TOWN WHO HAVE A PRIVATE SEPTIC, WHO HAVE NEVER HAD AN ISSUE, WHO ARE NOT PAYING ANYTHING FOR THIS. THEY ARE FLYING UNDER THE RADAR. I DON'T AGREE WITH THE FEE WHERE PEOPLE ARE PAYING. SOME PEOPLE ARE AND SOME PEOPLE ARE NOT. I'VE BEEN TOLD ADMINISTRATIVE FEE. SO IF WE HAVE AN ADMINISTRATIVE FEE OF $60 EVERY THREE YEARS, AND I'VE BEEN SAID, I'VE BEEN TOLD IN THE PAST YEARS BECAUSE THIS IS NOT MY FIRST TIME HERE. AND SO THESE ARE THE MORE COMPREHENSIVE RESULTS. SO JUST TO GIVE A LITTLE BIT OF A BRIEF BACKGROUND ON THE PROJECT TO REVIEW. SO WE RECEIVED A $70,000 GRANT FROM THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES TO WORK TO MAKE THE COMMUNITY MORE AGE FRIENDLY, WITH A FOCUS ON ADULTS AGE 55 AND OVER. THROUGH THIS GRANT, WE CONDUCTED A NEEDS ASSESSMENT TO DETERMINE WHAT RESOURCES CURRENTLY EXIST AND WHAT IMPROVEMENTS CAN BE MADE FOR SENIORS, AND THE OVERALL GOAL IS TO INFORM THE TOWNSHIP AND THE COMMUNITY OF WHAT THE NEEDS OF SENIORS ARE AND DEVELOP A SUSTAINABLE PLATFORM FOR THIS PROJECT GOING FORWARD. SO A LITTLE BIT OF WHY IT MATTERS. SO ADULTS AGE 55 AND OVER CURRENTLY MAKE UP 30% OF THE POPULATION OF MONTGOMERY AND ADULTS AGE 65 AND OVER MAKE UP 14.7%. THE NUMBER OF AMERICANS AGE 65 AND OLDER IS PROJECTED TO INCREASE FROM 58,000,000 IN 20 22 TO 82 MILLION BY 2050, WHICH WOULD BE A RISE FROM 17 TO 23% OF THE POPULATION. SO WE CAN ASSUME THAT A SIMILAR TREND WILL HAPPEN IN MONTGOMERY, MEANING THAT WE'LL HAVE MORE SENIORS THAT WE NEED TO THINK ABOUT THE NEEDS. SO WE NEED TO THINK ABOUT WHAT WE CAN DO CURRENTLY TO MAKE OURSELVES READY FOR THIS INCREASE. SO FOR OUR DATA COLLECTION FROM JULY TO OCTOBER OF 2025, CONDUCTED 23 KEY INFORMANT INTERVIEWS ABOUT CURRENT AGE FRIENDLY SUPPORTS AND POTENTIAL CHALLENGES AND IMPROVEMENTS TO BE MADE. THESE WERE MADE WITH COMMUNITY LEADERS, DEPARTMENTS, ORGANIZATIONS IN THE COMMUNITY, THINGS LIKE THAT. NEXT, WE DID A COMMUNITY WIDE SURVEY FROM OCTOBER TO NOVEMBER OF 2025. WE HAD 195 RESPONDENTS TAKE THE SURVEY, 93 OF WHICH WERE IN THE TARGET POPULATION. AND THEN FINALLY WE DID THREE LISTENING SESSIONS, WHICH WERE EACH BROKEN INTO TWO DISCUSSION GROUPS THAT WERE HELD IN DECEMBER AND JANUARY. IN ORDER TO GIVE RESIDENTS THE OPPORTUNITY TO TALK MORE ABOUT THE THINGS THAT THEY HAD MENTIONED IN THE SURVEY OR IN THE INTERVIEWS. TOTAL OF 55 RESIDENTS ATTENDED THE LISTENING SESSIONS, AND THEN WE ARE ADDITIONALLY DOING A FACILITIES ASSESSMENT BY AN OUTSIDE CONTRACTOR. THAT ASSESSMENT IS STILL IN PROGRESS, SO THE FINAL RESULTS OF THAT WILL BE ADDED INTO THE REPORT. AND THIS PRESENTATION IS A SUMMARY OF WHAT'S IN THE REPORT. BUT THE FINAL REPORT WILL BE FINISHED WITHIN THE NEXT MONTH AND SENT OUT TO EVERYBODY AS WELL. SO JUST TO NOTE, SOME OF THE CONTRIBUTING STAKEHOLDERS WHO PARTICIPATED IN ADVISING ON THIS PROJECT IN INTERVIEWS, IN COMING OUT TO, YOU KNOW, LISTENING SESSIONS, GIVING US INFORMATION IN OUR RESEARCH ABOUT WHAT CURRENTLY EXISTS IN MONTGOMERY. ALL RIGHT. SO THESE ARE SOME OF THE HIGHLIGHTS OF THE SURVEY RESULTS. OVERALL, MONTGOMERY RESIDENTS IN THIS AGE GROUP TEND TO HAVE LIVED IN MONTGOMERY FOR A LONG TIME. AND THEY LIKE LIVING HERE. PEOPLE WANT TO STAY IN THEIR CURRENT RESIDENCE. THEY WANT TO STAY IN MONTGOMERY. YOU KNOW, THEY HAVE ROOTS HERE. IN GENERAL. PEOPLE, AS I SAID, FEEL GOOD ABOUT STAYING HERE. THEY THEY LIKE IT HERE. THEY WANT TO STAY HERE AS LONG AS POSSIBLE. HOWEVER, ONLY HALF OF RESPONDENTS STRONGLY AGREED THAT. SO THERE WERE MIXED OPINIONS ON THE COMMUNITY SUPPORTS FOR OLDER ADULTS IN MONTGOMERY. MOST PEOPLE SORT OF FELL IN THE MIDDLE. AND THEN ABOUT EQUAL AMOUNTS DISAGREEING AND AGREEING THAT THERE WERE GOOD COMMUNITY SUPPORT. SO AGAIN, ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT. ANOTHER STATISTIC 70% OF PARTICIPANTS DID NOT KNOW WHO THEY COULD CONTACT IF THEY NEEDED. IF THEY OR SOMEONE THEY KNEW NEEDED ASSISTANCE WITH CAREGIVING, MEAL DELIVERY, HOME REPAIRS, FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS, HOME SAFETY PROGRAMS, TRANSPORTATION TO MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS, AND SOCIAL RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES. SO WE DEFINITELY NEED TO IMPROVE COMMUNICATION ABOUT WHAT IS AVAILABLE. 42% OF RESPONDENTS AGREED THAT THEY HAVE EXCELLENT ACCESS TO HEALTHCARE. AND THEN THERE'S ALSO A GROUP THAT'S IN THE MIDDLE. BUT IN GENERAL, PEOPLE SAID THAT THEY HAVE GOOD ACCESS TO HEALTHCARE IN MONTGOMERY. AND AGAIN, ALSO MOST PEOPLE RATED THEIR HEALTH FAIRLY GOOD. 91% SAID THEY HAVE EITHER GOOD OR VERY GOOD HEALTH COMPARED TO OTHER PEOPLE THEIR AGE. TRANSPORTATION WAS A BIG TOPIC ACROSS ALL OF THE DATA COLLECTION SYSTEMS, SO MOST PEOPLE DID NOT AGREE THAT MONTGOMERY HAS EXCELLENT TRANSPORTATION. 30% OF 38% OF PARTICIPANTS DISAGREED, AND ONLY 9% AGREED. SO IT'S DEFINITELY A A WEAKNESS. ACCESS TO INFORMATION ABOUT RESOURCES, PROGRAMS, AND SOCIAL EVENTS. ONLY 36% OF RESPONDENTS AGREED THAT THERE WAS EXCELLENT ACCESS TO INFORMATION FOR OLDER ADULTS, AND LOTS OF PEOPLE NOTED THAT WE COULD HAVE MORE STREAMLINED COMMUNICATION. THESE ARE THE PRIMARY WAYS PEOPLE SAID THEY GET INFORMATION, THE MOST POPULAR BEING THE MONTGOMERY NEWS, FOLLOWED BY THE TOWNSHIP WEBSITE AND THE TOWNSHIP BULLETIN. AND FOR HOUSING, 24% OF PARTICIPANTS AGREED THAT MONTGOMERY HAS EXCELLENT HOUSING FOR SENIORS AND 31% DISAGREED. SO AGAIN, I THINK THERE'S SOME ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT HERE. AND THEN A LOT OF PARTICIPANTS NOTED THAT THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY WOULD DO IF THEY WERE TO DEVELOP A PHYSICAL DISABILITY. THEY SAID THEY'RE OKAY RIGHT NOW, BUT IF THEY DID, 41% SAID THAT THEIR HOME WOULD NOT BE SUITABLE FOR AGING IN PLACE, AND MANY ALSO SAID THEY WOULDN'T KNOW WHAT THEY WOULD DO FOR THINGS LIKE TRANSPORTATION AS WELL IF THEY COULD NO LONGER DRIVE. LOTS OF ORGANIZATIONS AND DEPARTMENTS WITHIN THE COMMUNITY WORK TOGETHER TO GET THINGS DONE. THERE'S AN EMPHASIS ON OPEN SPACE PRESERVATION AND ENJOYING OUTDOOR SPACES. LOTS OF PARTICIPANTS MENTIONED THAT THEY REALLY LIKE THE CULTURE THAT THIS HAS CREATED IN MONTGOMERY, AND THEY LIKE THAT. THAT'S KIND OF WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT WHEN YOU'RE HERE. MANY PEOPLE TALKED ABOUT THE VISION FOR INCREASED WALKABILITY. THERE WAS A LOT OF NOTING THAT RIGHT NOW, MAYBE THERE'S LOTS OF PLACES THAT ARE NOT WALKABLE, BUT THE THERE ARE PLANS TO MAKE MORE SIDEWALKS AND MORE WALKABLE SPACES IN MONTGOMERY. THERE'S A STRONG SENSE OF COMMUNITY AND A DESIRE TO CONTINUE LIVING IN AND CONTRIBUTING TO MONTGOMERY. PEOPLE GENERALLY FEEL, YOU KNOW, PRETTY STRONGLY ABOUT WHERE THEY ARE, AND THEY WANT TO DO GOOD THINGS FOR THE COMMUNITY, AND THEY WANT TO CONTRIBUTE TO COMMUNITY PROJECTS AND THINGS LIKE THAT. ALL RIGHT. SO WEAKNESSES, ONE OF THEM IS THE LACK OF FORMAL MECHANISMS FOR COLLABORATION ON MUNICIPAL PLANNING. SO JUST REVIEWING PLANS BY DIFFERENT DEPARTMENTS TO SEE, YOU KNOW, WHAT MIGHT BE A CONSIDERATION FROM THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT, FOR EXAMPLE, IN A PLAN FOR NEW BUILDINGS AND THINGS LIKE THAT, ALONG WITH THAT LACK OF AGE FRIENDLY STANDARDS FOR NEW DEVELOPMENTS, IT WAS NOTED BY MONTGOMERY EMS THAT SOME OF THE APARTMENT COMPLEXES IN TOWN ARE VERY FRIENDLY TO, YOU KNOW, COMING IN IN EMERGENCY SITUATIONS AND NAVIGATING HALLWAYS AND DOORS AND THINGS LIKE THAT. PEOPLE NOTED THAT THE TOWNSHIP E-BULLETIN HAD LIKE ONE MAIN TOPIC, BUT THEY DIDN'T KNOW THAT IT HAD OTHER INFORMATION IN IT AS WELL. SO THINGS LIKE THAT, COMMUNITY PROGRAMS AND RESOURCES NOT ADVERTISED WELL ENOUGH. LOTS OF PEOPLE NOTED SINCE THEY'RE MOST PEOPLE DON'T USE THE SENIOR CENTER. SOME OF THE RESOURCES ARE OFFERED SPECIFICALLY AT THE SENIOR CENTER AND NOT VERY MUCH OUTSIDE. SO JUST SORT OF, YOU KNOW, MARKETING THOSE MORE WIDELY, A LACK OF A DEDICATED HUMAN SERVICE DEPARTMENT, THIS IS ALREADY AN ISSUE. BUT AS MORE SENIORS START TO COME INTO MONTGOMERY, IT'S ONLY GOING TO BECOME A LARGER ISSUE WHEN PEOPLE NEED THOSE HUMAN SERVICES AND WE DON'T KNOW WHERE TO SEND THEM. ALONG WITH THIS, MUNICIPAL STAFF AND SERVICES STRETCHED BY GROWING DEMAND. YOU KNOW, THAT GOES ALONG WITH HUMAN SERVICES, BUT ALSO ANY ADDITIONAL SERVICES THAT ARE PROVIDED TO RESIDENTS. WE'RE JUST GOING TO HAVE MORE. WE HAVE MORE HOUSING COMING IN. WE HAVE MORE SENIORS COMING IN, LIMITED PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION OPTIONS. THIS WAS BROUGHT UP THE MOST OUT OF ANY OF THE TOPICS. SO AND IT DEFINITELY IMPACTS SENIORS AND THEIR ABILITY TO GET AROUND. SENIOR CENTER IS AT CAPACITY CURRENTLY. SO EVEN IF THERE WERE MORE PEOPLE WHO WANTED TO USE SENIOR CENTER, THERE'S NO SPACE FOR THEM TO USE THE SENIOR CENTER. AND LOTS OF PEOPLE ALSO NOTED THERE WAS TOO FEW RECREATION OPPORTUNITIES FOR ACTIVE OLDER ADULTS. THERE ARE A LOT OF PROGRAMS FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE MOBILITY IMPAIRED, PEOPLE WHO ARE OLDER, WHO GO TO THE SENIOR CENTER OR SOMETHING, BUT THERE'S NOT THAT MANY FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE ACTIVE. ALL RIGHT. SO SOME OF THE OPPORTUNITIES THAT MAY ALLOW US TO IMPROVE ON SOME OF THESE THINGS. SO WE HAVE A LOT OF GRANTS THAT ARE IN PROGRESS RIGHT NOW. SO THE PLAN FOR HEALTH GRANT WILL SUPPORT HEALTH CONSIDERATIONS IN MUNICIPAL PLANNING. WE ALSO HAVE GRANTS THAT WILL ARE AIMED TO IMPROVE WALKABILITY AND CONNECTIVITY. SO BUILDING NEW SIDEWALKS AND THINGS LIKE THAT, PATHWAYS AROUND HOUSING AND ALONG MAJOR STREETS THAT PEOPLE LIKE TO WALK ON. THERE'S A GRANT TO MAKE IMPROVEMENTS TO THE COMMUNITY CENTER IN THE SENIOR CENTER. IT WON'T NECESSARILY MAKE IT BIGGER, BUT IT WILL IMPROVE THE FACILITIES SO THAT THEY'RE, YOU KNOW, EASIER TO ACCESS AND BETTER FOR THE PROGRAMS THAT TAKE PLACE THERE. WE ALSO HAVE TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANCEMENTS THAT MAKE IT EASIER FOR US TO DISSEMINATE INFORMATION TO PEOPLE. SO IF WE FIND OUT A WAY THAT'S EASY TO, YOU KNOW, CENTRALIZE INFORMATION, IT'LL BE EASIER TO DO THAT. AND HAVING BUY IN FROM ELECTED OFFICIALS AND BOARDS IS ALSO ALWAYS VERY HELPFUL FOR THE ADVOCACY FOR THESE PROGRAMS. SO SOME OF THE THREATS, THESE, NOT ALL OF THEM ARE SPECIFIC ONLY TO MONTGOMERY. SOME OF THEM ARE THREATS THAT ARE HAPPENING STATEWIDE, BUT THEY WILL AFFECT [00:30:04] OUR POPULATION HERE IN MONTGOMERY. SO THERE'S INCREASING SOCIAL ISOLATION AND ASSOCIATED HEALTH ISSUES. WE HAD LOTS OF PEOPLE SAY THAT THEY LIVE WITH THEIR ADULT CHILDREN, AND THAT'S THE WAY THAT THEY GET AROUND IS BY, YOU KNOW, THEIR CHILDREN DRIVING THEM. BUT THEN IF THEIR CHILDREN ARE AT WORK AND THEIR GRANDCHILDREN AT SCHOOL, THEY'RE JUST AT HOME ALL DAY BY THEMSELVES. THEY DON'T HAVE ANY WAY TO GET ANYWHERE. RISING HOUSING AND UTILITY COSTS. AGAIN, THESE AREN'T NECESSARILY SPECIFIC TO MONTGOMERY, BUT THEY ARE SOMETHING THAT WE SHOULD CONSIDER HAVING AN IMPACT ON SENIORS. ONE THING WE CAN DO SOMETHING ABOUT HERE IS THE HEALTH RISKS THAT ARE DUE TO SENIOR HOUSING BEING BUILT WITHOUT CONNECTION TO COMMUNITY SERVICES. SO MAKING SURE THAT WHEN NEW DEVELOPMENTS ARE BUILT THAT ARE WITH SENIORS IN MIND, THAT WE THINK ABOUT HOW CAN THESE SENIORS GET TO GROCERY STORES, MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS, THINGS LIKE THAT, FREQUENCY AND INTENSITY OF NATURAL DISASTERS ARE INCREASING. CAN'T DO ANYTHING ABOUT THAT, BUT IT IS GOING TO IMPACT SENIORS. MANY SENIORS SAY THAT THEY'RE NOT PREPARED TO HANDLE AN EMERGENCY THIS WINTER. MANY SENIORS WERE COMPLETELY SNOWED IN. THEY COULDN'T SHOVEL THEIR DRIVEWAYS. SO, YOU KNOW, HAVING ADDITIONAL SUPPORTS FOR THAT, RESTRICTED OPTIONS FOR CHANGE IN COUNTY INFRASTRUCTURE. WE DO HAVE A FAIR NUMBER OF COUNTY ROADS AND OTHER THINGS THAT WE CAN'T NECESSARILY CHANGE, BUT WE CAN ADVOCATE TO THE COUNTY AND WE CAN DO SOME OTHER THINGS TO TRY AND GET THOSE CHANGED. THE INCREASING PERCENTAGE OF SENIORS WITHOUT A PROPORTIONAL INCREASE IN AFFORDABLE HOUSING. THERE'S AN AFFORDABLE HOUSING CRISIS IN THE ENTIRE STATE, ESPECIALLY FOR SENIORS. SO NO MATTER WHAT'S HAPPENING SPECIFICALLY HERE IN MONTGOMERY, AS PEOPLE HERE GET OLDER AND MAY NEED THAT AFFORDABLE HOUSING, IT'S GOING TO IMPACT THEM IF THERE'S A SHORTAGE. WE ALSO HAVE AN INCREASING RELIANCE ON TECHNOLOGY, WHICH IF SENIORS AREN'T COMFORTABLE USING THAT, THEY'RE NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO COPE WITH HAVING THAT BE THE ONLY OPTION. AND THEN FINALLY, JUST THE PATCHWORK PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION NETWORK. SO MONTGOMERY IS BASICALLY NOT COVERED BY ANY OF THE PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION NETWORKS, BY ANY OF THE SURROUNDING COUNTIES. ALL RIGHT. SO THE RECOMMENDATIONS THAT WE CREATED THAT ARE BASED OFF OF ALL OF THIS DATA, SOME OF THEM ARE FAIRLY EASY TO ACCOMPLISH, CAN DO THEM INTERNALLY. THERE'S WITH THE THE BABY BOOMER GENERATION GETTING OLDER AND MORE AND MORE AND MORE OF THEM, LIKE THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS LIKE AGING INTO THIS 65 PLUS GROUP, LIKE ALL THE TIME, EVERY DAY. THEN IT'S JUST, IT'S GOING TO INCREASE THE NUMBER THAT WE HAVE. AND WE'RE ALSO, SINCE WE'RE BRINGING IN ADDITIONAL AFFORDABLE HOUSING AND ADDITIONAL, WE'RE BRINGING IN MORE SENIORS SPECIFICALLY TO MONTGOMERY ALSO, EVEN THOUGH IT'S NOT, YOU KNOW, LIKE A NATURAL GROWTH OF THE POPULATION, BUT WE ARE EXPECTING THE NUMBER TO INCREASE THE PEOPLE WHO FALL INTO THAT AGE GROUP, EVEN IF THEY ALREADY LIVE HERE, FOR THEM TO JUST LIKE AGE UP INTO THAT AGE GROUP. AND THEN SOME OF IT ARE THINGS THAT THE TOWNSHIP ITSELF COULD DO. YEAH. ANOTHER POINT IS JUST, JUST, I, I THINK IN THE BEGINNING, I NOTICED THAT THAT PART OF THE ISSUE MIGHT BE COMMUNICATION. THEY HAVE NOT EITHER HAVING ACCESS OR NOT COMMUNICATING, NOT GETTING INFORMATION. AND THAT'S WHY PROBABLY EVEN IF THE FACILITIES OR THINGS ARE EXISTING, THEY ARE NOT, THEY MAY NOT BE AWARE OF THAT. SO YES, COMMUNICATION WAS A BIG THING THAT PEOPLE NOTED THERE. THEY WANT THINGS TO BE MORE STREAMLINED AND FOR THEY WILL FIND IT IN ONE PLACE. THIS LAST POINT. YES. OKAY. SORRY. ANY ROLE OF COUNTY AND STATE AND WHETHER IT'S FUNDING OR GRANTS OR ANYTHING IN WHAT IN RECOMMENDATIONS, IF THEY NEED IF THEY IF WE IMPLEMENT THOSE RECOMMENDATIONS OR WHOSOEVER IMPLEMENTS THOSE, ANY, ANY SORTS OF ANY INVOLVEMENT AT THE COUNTY LEVEL OR STATE LEVEL. BUT YEAH, I THINK COUNTY AND STATE ARE GOING TO REQUIRE PRETTY SPECIFIC DATA. AND LOTS OF PEOPLE WHO MIGHT WANT TO USE THOSE RESOURCES TO INCREASE THEM. THE COUNTY ALSO CURRENTLY PROVIDES OUR HUMAN SERVICES AND SENIOR SERVICES. SO SINCE WE DON'T HAVE A DEDICATED HUMAN SERVICES FUNCTION, WE TELL PEOPLE, OKAY, YOU CAN CALL THE COUNTY, THEY CAN HELP PEOPLE. THEY PRETTY MUCH ONLY HAVE THE CAPACITY TO HELP THE PEOPLE WHO ARE AT THE VERY LOWEST SOCIOECONOMIC LEVEL, AND THEY CAN'T REALLY DO MUCH MORE THAN THAT. AND LOTS OF PEOPLE SAID THAT THERE WAS ISSUES WITH GETTING ACCESS TO THINGS, LIKE THEY HAD TO CALL A WHOLE BUNCH OF TIMES, OR THEY WEREN'T ABLE TO GET WHAT THEY NEEDED OR, YOU KNOW, BUSSES TOOK A REALLY LONG TIME OR, YOU KNOW, THINGS LIKE THAT. SO THE SUPPORTS THAT DO EXIST AT THE COUNTY ARE NOT MEETING THE NEEDS OF PEOPLE HERE. THANK YOU SO MUCH. YEAH. YOU'RE SAYING THANK YOU VERY MUCH, BY THE WAY, IS ONE OF THE ISSUES WITH THE TOWNSHIP IN GENERAL IS THAT IT'S VERY LARGE GEOGRAPHICALLY. SO PEOPLE ARE DISPERSED THROUGHOUT. SO TRYING TO GET THE SERVICES CENTRALIZED TO A CERTAIN LOCATION WHERE THINGS [00:45:04] BECOME CONVENIENT IS VERY CHALLENGING. LIKE YOU CAN'T JUST SET UP ANOTHER BUS ROUTE NECESSARILY AND HAVE THAT BE ABLE TO ACCOMMODATE THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE THAT NEED TO USE PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION, BECAUSE THAT'S NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO GET THEM. IF YOU CAN'T DRIVE IN MONTGOMERY, YOU REALLY CAN'T GET ANYWHERE. AND THAT SPEAKS TO WHAT THE MASTER PLAN MAY OR MAY NOT BE FOR MONTGOMERY'S GROWTH GOING FORWARD. RIGHT? YOU NEED TO HAVE A WAY OF ACCOMMODATING THE AGING POPULATION IN POCKETS THAT ALLOW THEM TO BE AUTONOMOUS. AND THAT DOESN'T EXIST REALLY, ASIDE FROM THE PRE EXISTING SENIOR LIVING CENTERS. RIGHT? BUT BEYOND THAT, THERE'S NO WAY THAT THESE SENIORS, AS THEY GROW IN THEIR HOUSES, ARE GOING TO BE ABLE TO ACCESS THE SERVICES THAT THEY NEED ON A ROUTINE BASIS, THE WAY IT'S SET UP RIGHT NOW. SO THE MASTER PLAN NEEDS TO BE CHANGED. GOING ALONG WITH THAT IS THE FACT THAT MOST RESIDENTS OF MONTGOMERY DON'T WANT THE BUCOLIC NATURE OF THE TOWNSHIP TO BE RUINED BY ADDITIONAL GROWTH. YEAH. AND ADDITIONAL BUILDINGS THAT ARE PUT IN THAT ARE GOING TO ACT AS AFFORDABLE LIVING SITUATION FOR FOR PEOPLE, SENIOR LIVING COMMUNITIES, AND THEN PROVIDE AREAS OF WALKABILITY, BECAUSE THAT'S NOT GOING TO BE THE KIND OF ELEMENT THAT THEY WANT TO HAVE. I MEAN, YOU SEE THIS PLAY OUT CONSTANTLY ON SOCIAL MEDIA IN THE NEWSPAPER. SO THAT'S A CHALLENGE BECAUSE THIS IS NOT GOING TO BE THIS. THIS IS A LONG TERM PROJECT THAT NEEDS TO BE FOCUSED ON AT THE MASTER PLAN LEVEL AND WHAT THE MASTER PLAN FOR THE TOWN IS GOING FORWARD. FINALLY, POINTS EIGHT AND 14 I THINK ON THE RECOMMENDATIONS OR SEVEN AND. 14 YOU NEED THE PLAN FOR A NEW SENIOR CENTER, I THINK IS IMPERATIVE BECAUSE THE AUTO KAUFFMAN CENTER IS NOT WALKABLE TO ANYBODY EXCEPT HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS. RIGHT, RIGHT. AND THEY'RE NOT REALLY USING IT. IT'S ALL THE WAY OUT IN ONE CORNER OF THE TOWN. RIGHT. SO THEN YOU ALSO HAD THE WHAT I HEARD AT SOME POINT WAS THAT THE YMCA WANTED THERE WAS AN OFFER TO, TO TAKE OVER THE MUNICIPAL BUILDING SITE AND BUILD A GIGANTIC YMCA THERE. RIGHT. THAT THE, THAT THE TOWNSHIP WOULD BE ABLE TO UTILIZE. BUT FOR SOME REASON THAT'S IN SOME SORT OF LIMBO RIGHT NOW, OR IT WAS NIXED AT THE TOWNSHIP COMMITTEE LEVEL BECAUSE OF SOME POLITICAL ISSUE THAT I'M NOT TOTALLY AWARE OF. BUT THAT COULD BE DEVELOPED INTO A LARGE BUILDING WHERE YOU COULD CENTRALIZE A SENIOR CENTER, BECAUSE THAT'S RIGHT ON ROUTE 206, BECAUSE YOU HAVE PEOPLE SAYING THAT THEY DON'T USE IT. RIGHT? THE UTILIZATION ON THAT PIE GRAPH WAS VERY, VERY, VERY SMALL. BUT YET ONE OF YOUR POINTS, YOU SAY THAT IT'S AT CAPACITY. SO MORE SENIORS, EVEN IF THEY WANTED TO USE IT, CAN'T USE IT. IF IF THE REAL GOAL HERE IS TO ACCOMMODATE A GROWING SENIOR POPULATION WHERE THE SENIORS ARE GOING TO BE ABLE TO UTILIZE A BIGGER BUILDING. SO I DON'T KNOW HOW THOSE THINGS COME TO PASS, BUT I BELIEVE IT'S ABOVE THE PAY GRADE OF THE BOARD OF HEALTH TO MAKE THOSE CHANGES. IT'S MORE OF A A TOWNSHIP COUNCIL ISSUE AND MASTER PLANNING ISSUE. YEAH. AND YEAH, SOME OF IT IS. YEAH. WELL ABOVE AND EVEN THE, YOU KNOW, TOWNSHIP COUNCIL, IT'S LIKE, YOU KNOW, ADVOCATING FOR ADDITIONAL FUNDING FROM THE STATE OR ADDITIONAL OTHER THINGS TOO. BUT I THINK MOST OF IT IS LIKE JUST KNOWING THAT THESE PROBLEMS EXIST AND ADVOCATING FOR THEM. YEAH. AND THEY'VE PROVIDED A LOT OF FEEDBACK AND RECOMMENDATIONS ON MONTGOMERY.
