RECOGNIZING ARBOR DAY 2024 TO DO THIS MY FIRST, UH, YEAR BEING ON THE STATE STREET COMMITTEE. SO WHERE IS IN 1872 J, STERLING MORAN PROPOSED TO NEBRASKA BOARD OF AGRICULTURE THAT SPECIAL DAY BE SET ASIDE FOR PLANTING TREES. AND WHEREAS THIS HOLIDAY CALLED ARBOR DAY WAS FIRST OBSERVED IN THE PLANNING IN MORE THAN A MILLION TREES IN NEBRASKA, AND WHEREAS ARBOR DAY CELEBRATE ANNUALLY ON THE LAST FRIDAY IN APRIL, AND WHEREAS THE TOWNSHIP OF MONTGOMERY WILL COMMEMORATE A DAY IN THE TOWNSHIP ON FRIDAY, APRIL 12TH 2024 WITH EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES AND TREE PLANTING AND WHEREAS TREES CAN BE A SOLUTION TO COMBATING CLIMATE CHANGE BY REDUCING THE EROSION OF OUR PRECIOUS TOPSOIL BY WIND AND WATER, ABSORBING STORM WATER TO MITIGATE FLOODING EFFECTS, CUTTING HEATING AND COOLING COSTS, MODERATING THE TEMPERATURE CLEAN THE AIR LIFE, GIVING OXYGEN AND PROVIDING HABIT FOR THE WILDLIFE. AND WHEREAS TREES ARE RENEWABLE RESOURCE, GIVING US PAPER WOOD FOR OUR HOMES, FUEL FOR OUR FIRES AND COUNTLESS OTHER WOOD PRODUCTS. AND WHEREAS TREES IN OUR TOWNSHIP INCREASE PROPERTY VALUES, ENHANCE THE ECONOMIC VITALITY OF BUSINESS AREAS AND BEAUTIFY OUR COMMUNITY. AND WHEREAS TREES WHEREVER THEY ARE PLANTED, ARE A SOURCE OF JOY AND SPIRITUAL RENEWAL. AND WHEREAS THE MONTGOMERY TOWNSHIP HAS BEEN RECOGNIZED AS A THREE CITY USA BY THE NATIONAL ARBOR DAY FOUNDATION AND DESIRES TO CONTINUE ITS TREE PLANTING WAYS. NOW THEREFORE BE IT PROCLAIMED THE TOWNSHIP COMMITTEE OF THE TOWNSHIP OF MONTGOMERY COUNTY OF SOMERSET, NEW JERSEY, HEREBY RECOGNIZES APRIL 26TH 2024 AS ARBOR DAY AND URGES ALL CITIZENS TO SUPPORT EFFORTS TO PROTECT OUR TREES AND WOODLANDS AND TO SUPPORT OUR TOWNSHIPS URBAN FORESTRY PROGRAM. HE FURTHER PROCLAIMED THAT THE TOWNSHIP COMMITTEE URGES ALL CITIZENS TO PLANT TREES TO GLAD IN THE HEARTS AND PROMOTE THE WELL BEING OF PRESENT AND FUTURE GENERATIONS. NATIONAL PUBLIC HEALTH WEEK 2024. WHERE DOES THE WEEK OF APRIL 1ST TO APRIL. 7TH 2024 IS THE NATIONAL PUBLIC HEALTH WEEK AND WHEREAS SINCE 1995 THE AMERICAN PUBLIC HEALTH ASSOCIATION THROUGH ITS SPONSORSHIP OF NATIONAL PUBLIC HEALTH WEEK HAS EDUCATED THE PUBLIC POLICY MAKERS AND PUBLIC HEALTH PROFESSIONALS ABOUT ISSUES IMPORTANT TO IMPROVING THE PUBLIC HEALTH, AND WHEREAS PUBLIC HEALTH IS MORE THAN JUST HEALTH CARE, IT IS FOSTERING RELATIONSHIPS AMONG INDIVIDUALS, FAMILIES AND PUBLIC HEALTH PROFESSIONALS WITHIN OUR AND WORKING TOGETHER TO ENSURE THAT OUR NEIGHBORHOODS AND ENVIRONMENT ARE FREE FROM POLLUTION, AND THAT OUR FOOD AND WATER ARE SAFE TO EAT AND DRINK. WE'RE WE'RE BLESSED TO HAVE THE MASONIC CENTER THERE. I THANK THEM. YOU KNOW, MY GREAT GRANDFATHER WAS A MASON AND YOU KNOW THEY DO WONDERFUL THINGS, BUT THE FENCE OUTSIDE THE BUILDING ALONG THE ROAD IS USELESS. IT'S NOT PROTECTED, AND IT'S ALL RUSTED AND BENT. THAT ARE STACKED LIKE THIS OVERLOOKING THE ROAD THAT LOOK HORRIBLE. UM AND YOU KNOW THAT'S WHY PEOPLE DON'T SAY THEY LIVE IN MONTGOMERY. YOU KNOW, I THINK WE NEED TO HAVE A B. OUR STAFF HAS LOOKED AT ALL THE MUNICIPALITIES AROUND US, AND THIS IS WHAT THEY ARE DOING FOR THEIR TREES. AND THIS IS NOT SOMETHING THAT MONTGOMERY IS DOING. OUT OF JUST BEING YOU KNOW, PUNITIVE TO OUR RESIDENTS. WE THE REPLACEMENT FOR TREES IS 1.5 CALIBER, WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT THE STATE IS DOING. THE FEES WE HEARD AT THE TOWN HALL, 100 AND 50 FOR A PERMIT WAS NOT LIKED. WE BROUGHT IT DOWN TO $40 SO I WOULD ENCOURAGE ALL RESIDENTS TO PLEASE LOOK AT WHAT HAPPENED AFTER THE 27 TOWN HALL. WE REALLY WORKED HARD, BELIEVE ME, BUT WHAT WE ARE BEING TOLD BY ANYBODY WHO HAS IF YOU SOMEONE TO PLANT A TREE. THAT'S THE 500 IF YOU DO A 1.5 CALIBER BY YOURSELF, YOU'RE MOST WELCOME TO DO IT. THERE IS NO COST TO YOU.

WE ARE ALSO SIMULTANEOUSLY THE MAYOR AND I ALL THE TOUCH P WORKING WITH THE COUNTY AND OUR STATE LEGISLATORS TO SEE IF WE COULD GET MENTAL HEALTH ADVOCATES TO ALSO WORK WITHIN, UH, WORK SIDE BY SIDE FOR POLICE OFFICERS, BUT AT THE

WE'RE AT 16% IF YOU SEE THE LAST TWO YEARS, THOSE WERE LOW AGAIN BECAUSE OF THE AMERICAN RESCUE PLAN FUNDS THAT WE HAD THE PAST TWO YEARS THAT WE USED. WE WERE ABLE TO DECREASE OUR SURPLUS. THEY LEAP STANDS FOR THE LOCAL EFFICIENCY ACHIEVEMENT PROGRAM. THAT IS, UM, A PROGRAM OFFERED BY THE DIVISION OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT SERVICES. THIS IS THE STATE, UM, AGENCY WITHIN THE DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY AFFAIRS, AND IT ESSENTIALLY PROVIDES MUNICIPALITIES THAT GO IN ON A PROJECT TOGETHER, SHARING THAT SERVICE TO RECEIVE A GRANT TO PAY FOR THAT SERVICE. SO YOU MAY SEE THOSE WORKERS OUT AND ABOUT THROUGH TOWN BECAUSE THE PIPELINE DOES RUN NORTH SOUTH THROUGH THROUGH THE TOWN. AND ON THE SEPTIC FEES QUESTION THAT CAME UP THE LAST MEETING STAFF HAVE BEEN WORKING GATHERING INFORMATION, AND WE'LL HAVE AN UPDATE IN A FUTURE MEETING. OH, THAT'S GREAT. IF I COULD JUST ASK. IT'S ACTUALLY PART OF THE STORM WATER PERMITS ISSUED TO EVERY MUNICIPALITY IN THE STATE, AND YOU HAVE TO DO THAT IN ORDER TO BE IN COMPLIANCE WITH YOUR YOUR PERMITS. SO I THINK WE'LL MAKE SURE THAT THAT'S SOMETHING THAT WE BRING UP TO, UM MAYBE ON THE NEXT MEETING.
